Mother Nature

Yep, she is the most beautiful & powerful person anyone would ever come across in one's life,

Last week i was in the Island of Portland and witnessed some of the most remarkable landscapes i have ever seen .

The remarkable hill from which the sight of the Chesil beach was a treat to watch , the Chesil beach is a part of the historic  Jurassic coast along the south coast of mainland UK and is considered a UNESCO world heritage site.

The endless kilometers of turquoise water front is such wonderful sight that it takes one's breath away. You could call it romantic, beautiful , brilliant, vivid any number of superlatives cannot match the sight it is just an extraordinary.

I spent one whole day in the Isle of Portland and was treated to some magical sights such as a the Durdle pier , in which one comes out of a long walk beneath closed view just to be led to a magical coast and the sight just numbed me . I was just speechless.

I left the place thinking this was mother nature at her brilliant best , how wrong i was .

This afternoon i was watching a programme on BBC FOUR called The Blue Planet , narrated by the famous Dr David Attenborough .

I must say , this programme is a must watch . Lives of flora and fauna under sea below 4 kms from the surface was shown with such striking detail that i was at awe on how such thing could even exist where light does not even penetrate .

Bear in mind that sunlight do not go beyond 150 meters below the surface of the ocean and i was seeing creatures and plankton's living at around 4000 meters.

What took me by storm were two things

1 The programme showed a hot steaming rock at around 3000 meters pouring out water along with hydrogen and sulphur at temperature of 450 degree when the water temperature at in the surrounding area is close to 4 degrees, it was sheer magic.

2 A swamp of area under gulf of mexico at around 4000 meters where there is a 20 mile lake full of mussels , life where there is no light . These mussels are not like the conventional one but live off the methane being vented out from the surface.

What was awe-inspiring was the undisturbed magnificence of life at such depth &ample opportunity for creatures to co-exist for hundreds of years ; there are only handful of submarines around the world ,  which could reach such depths for research purposes . In fact the programme ended with the phrase that
" Mankind know about the moon more than they know about the plains below the water surface".

Who knows what's in store for us in the near future, maybe conventional clean energy from the ocean floor might be a possibility!

In the recent weeks i have seen both sides of Mother nature, the nasty force in which she can shake mankind in the form of Tsunami or earthquake and the beautiful landscape that she has created for her children (mankind) to enjoy.

I can safely conclude that mother nature goes out to prove to us  time & again that if properly treated we can live happily and also let others (flora & fauna) live happily as well, which has always been the essence of life .

Lets enjoy what mother nature has provided to us and also ensure that we protect what has been given to us and if possible invest and increase our natural wealth for generations to come.
