Brilliance Unlimited

You do not need to be a genius to understand the title of the Blog.

Roger the Demolishing Federer- That practically sums up the whole thing i wanted to write today.

He had two straight brilliant weeks and todays final was a icing in the cake. Murray had no answers to this man's sublime shots and mastery of the game.

I saw it not for the first time that Roger is a legend in his own right and his capacity to dictate terms in a match is truly remarkable.

One rally comes to my mind from today, where he was just standing on the baseline and got Andy to run from one corner to another and then dropped the ball short to the net only to get him gasping for the ball. When Andy came in and scooped the ball over Roger's head, all he did was smash the ball on the reverse. That was a show of skill at its very best.

After the game Andy said that he is able to cry like Roger but only that he is unable to play like him. That is true and honest words.

This man has 16 grand slam titles and is still raring to go. Lot of people say Rafa is equally good,i do like Rafa but to be this producing results this consistently should be a creation of a sort.

I keep telling many people that there is only a subtle difference between the ordinary and extraordinary, the latter do the same thing but very effectively and also are very consistent, one could not have a better example than Roger.

Roger also brings an aura to the game and the humility in his is what differentiates him from others.

Taking Chances

While i was sitting at my desk at home this evening thinking that one of my goals for 2010 is to blog every week and was thinking well i am going to fall short of that astronomical objective very early in the year.

Just while i was thinking i chanced upon a verse on my tabletop calendar with a picture in it. The verse said " Take Chances... when rowing forward ,the boat may rock". The tabletop had a picture of a gymnast taking a chance by swinging and trying to balance at 180 degree.

Suddenly my mind came alive, i re-read the verse and said well taking chances that is going to be the topic for this week.

It is so easy to say that why not take "chance" after all every soul in this world are trying to move forward in life one way or the other.

We need to take that with a pinch of salt . The more appropriate verse would be "take calculated chance". Taking chance blindly certainly has a high pay-off ,however it can rock the boat beyond recognition and would render it useless.

Anywhere and in every field it is often said calculated risk or gamble is the way forward . I am not going to go into the mathematics behind what is called a calculated gamble and the probability pay off . All i want to say is that take chance when you are reasonably certain that you at least have a decent possibility to succeed.

I know you are already thinking , well this guy is contradicting himself,he has just said that he would not delve into chance or probability and just a line after he is exactly doing it.

The title is all about chance, so it would be mean not to devote even a line to chance/probability.

As said , do take chance but take a calculated chance. Lot of people who i know have changed jobs in the recent past have done so in a hurry . They thought that it would pay them big time and took the plunge only to find themselves ruing about the dive. What they did was to take chance without knowing why and what they were doing . More importantly what was their end goal.

When you do not have a goal and are only looking at very short term issues, taking chances without knowing information is not the brightest of options!

Even in taking chances, patience and calculation is the key.

With that being said , you wait long you will miss the bus. So, in a nutshell to go forward take chance, weigh your options ,be patience ,time the chance.

You might ask do successful entrepreneurs do this , don't they simply take the dive? Well that is not hundred percent true , they do take their chances but calculated chances.

One can look at umpteen examples of successful people, you are sure to see that they hatched the idea long back in their life ,waited for opportune moment and then took the plunge. Mind you even after doing all these they might have failed, well isn't it what they call the classic chance you are never certain to succeed it is a matter of chance but if you are careful the chance of you succeeding is actually higher.

One take a chance if you fail , you learn a lesson or two . It always worth taking a calculated chance.

Education and The World's Future

This week i thought i would write something which is important and needs attention.

Saturday evening i was watching a TED video by Kiran Bir Sethi .When she completed it, i just did not even realize  that i was clapping .

Its not about how she presented the information but what i was moved by was the content itself and the relevance to the current world order.

Ok let me dive straight to the point ,lots is being said about future, especially on climate change, international politics, extremism etc. What is not being discussed or not grabbing the headlines is how education would shape that future.

That in a nut shell was what Kiran presented.Empowering children and make them feel the "I Can" attitude.

She is so right, children would make the future. We need to educate children. When i mean educate not making them books worms but real practical education.Showing them what is what and how things shape our future.

If we miss doing that now,its going to cost us dear in the future. We elders/seniors,however one would want to call, should invest time in educating kids may it be our own kid/kids or kids in the neighborhood.

Lets remember the equation, children are tomorrows future and they would shape tomorrow's world and we have a chance to shape them and there by influencing tomorrow's world. We definitely have a chance to make tomorrows world a better world.

What is being sorely missed in the growth story of many emerging markets is the fact that both growth and poverty coexist in these countries . Education is going to play a major role in how these countries are going to shape their future and also the worlds future.

Come on lets educate ,help the kids to learn things . From my side i have decided that I'll help as much as possible.I already do but given what am seeing , i need to do more. I know you would have already woken up if not now is the time. Lets do something for a better future.

Come let's do something!

Reunion

What better thing can one get in life than revisiting one's fond memories. That's exactly what happened to me today.

It is hard to quantify in words the emotion that ran in me today , i can only summarize it in one word.It is pure joy.

The story goes like this, a close friend , a batch mate of mine from college called me on my mobile a week back. I was surprised to see his number and with full of enthusiasm i took the call. What was more surprising was that he was extremely polite, which is seldom the case. Something was not ok.

I just had to wait only a few moments before he uttered the word , "I am Getting Married" and the call was for me to be at his wedding reception.

What a moment in a friends life , i said to him i'll surely be there. My mind said finally someone has come to rag him :)

Day came , that was today and was pleasant to see four of  my mates, we are six,one could not come and other was the "Man for the occassion".

It was pleasant to see all of them and what was more to repeat what we used to do in college. It was typical of us to crack jokes, while away time ( as does most of the college students and we were no different) and eat,how just buy one plate of what ever it was and share it amongst the six of us.

It was awesome to repeat the last one in the marriage hall, entire heads turned around to see what these four buggers were doing  ,we just did not care .We were on our own laughing to our hearts content and pulling (read as bullying) each other.

It was fun , did not even realize how two hours went by .

When i was traveling back home , i realized how much happiness those two hours gave me and how much i smiled.

In this fast paced world ,little do we realize how much relationships matter and how precious such times are.Its a blessing to have people around and its even more joyful to revisit memories.

I urge all of them to at least take some time off to meet up with friends and share your good times. It is worth every penny.

After all humans are made up of emotions and live on memories so why no revisit fond memories as often as possible.
